Girraween National Park Camping Trip

Hey there!  Our camping trip was great!  It was so beautiful there!  And the waether was great!  Blue skies skies dotted by occasional clouds.  Such a wonderful two days.

John and I left early Sunday morning so that we could make most of the day.  Once we reacahed
Stanthorpe, it was
still daylight, so we decided to stop at a few wineries before setting up our tent.  We went to lucas Estate, Bungawarra, and Ballandean.  Pretty good wine.  We ended up buying a few wines, and John took down some tasting notes so tat we know what he likes and doesn't like.  I think John had a good experience.  =]

We set up our tent and waited for our friends to arrive.  We cooked a delicious meal of chorizos with goya seasoning, steak, some frozen veggies, and salad that Sae said apparently had insect eggs in it.  I didn't see any.  It was a delicious meal!  And we got all toasty next to the BBQ fire.  The place we camped at was awesome!  There were BBQ'''s and picnic tables around, and we managed to set up our tent furthest away from all the people and near a BBQ, so we just claimed the BBQ as our own.  Yay!    At night we played Pictionary and tried out Benji's new comcorder with slow motion video.  IT WAS SO COOL!  He video taped my hai
r flowing as I spun my hair around, and my hair looked so cool, just like in those shampoo ads!

We slept, got frozen toes, and I woke up early.  Eariler than everyone else.  So I boiled a few pots of water to drink, made myself some amaretto cappucino (from a mix), wrote in my journal, watched a magpie eat a caterpillar, watched a kangaroo and its joey hop near me.  Finally, tey woke up.  Sae and I made a delicious breafast of bacon and eggs and toast.  SO yummy after being hungry.  =]  We packed up, and headed on our hike.

Man, that hike was pretty amazing.  Steep at parts, and rocky all the way.  It was kinda scary sometimes though.  Really windy too, so windy that it blew my big red marching band hat off johns head..and it was lost forever.  =[.  Oh well.  The top had some great views.  We ended up finding a secluded cave on the other side of the "mountain" and sat in there and ate our tuna and cheese and insect egg salad sandwiches.  Yum!

We finished our hike, headed back to the cars, took some more slow motion videos, and we parted ways and drove the 3.5 hours with a 1/2 hour petrol and rest stop at red rooster on the way home.  A great trip!
